Silhouette Studio Tutorials - Layering Vinyl
How to Layer Vinyl with Silhouette Studio! If you don't know where to start it's pretty intimidating, but FRET NOT we are going to get through this together. I have a video you can check out below or feel free to go through the walk through.
Open Design and Un-group
Open your desired design and un-group all of the colored layers, ensuring the colors are grouped together.
Create a Square
Create a square above your design (or whatever shape you want). You can find this design HERE.
Copy, Align and Group Squares
Copy the square. Then move and center align them. Then Group the two squares.
Select Squares, First Layer, Copy, Paste and Move
Select your squares and the first layer (in my case black outlines/words). Copy and Paste and move it out of the way.
Repeat for Each Layer
Repeat for each layer. I generally color the squares whatever color the design is as well.
Place and Cut
Place your designs on separate work spaces or on your work space and cut.
Layering in Real Time
Take your transfer tape and apply it to the first layer.
Peel
Apply to next layer by lining up squares. I usually fold mine a bit (sticky up NOT down) and lay something on the design so I can line it up better. You'll learn what works best for you as you continue to practice. Align and peel! (I missed a little WHOOPS)
REPEAT FOR NEXT LAYER
Continue until you're all layered up!
You can remove the weeding squares after you're done. As you can see I missed on the green but nailed it on the last layer. I recommend starting with easier to layer shapes and just 2 layers and work up from there.
