Create Your Text
You want to use a large close together text for these knockouts or your image will be lost. I generally go with IMPACT or something thicker, but this seems to work well for most of my designs. Make sure you group or create a compound path with your text once you get it how you like it.
Create Your Image
Create the image you would like to have knocked out and place it over the text.
I chose a heart.
Center and Duplicate
Center your layered design on the workspace. Select it. Copy and Past a second copy and put it to the side for later.
Crop your First Set
Select the centered design and crop the items. It will leave you with the words cut out in the shape!
Subtract your Second Set
Center the second copied layered item over the cropped item from the first step. Select the design and subtract the image from the text.
It will leave you with this as a final product!!!
Pretty simple right??? You can do this with a myriad of text and image combinations so try it out and let me know how it works out for you.
