I get the following questions a lot:
What is a ZIP file?
How do I ZIP my files into a folder?
How do I UNZIP files?
Well hopefully I can answer those questions quickly and ensure you can have a seamless transition to packaging multiple files into one and streamlining your uploading process for your digital designs.
A .zip file is basically a compressed folder that contains several folders with files or several files within the .zip folder for easy upload, download, and file storage. It also helps when your transmitting items as you can zip them instead of sending 20 different files to someone.
This is pretty simple now-a-days. I like to put my files in a folder before I ZIP them. You can also acheive this by selecting the files you want to zip.
Step 1. Select the files
Step 2. Right Click
Step 3. Send to Compressed (zipped) folder.
Once that's done your files will show up and you can edit the folder name how you see fit.
Extracting is similar. You can go one of two ways, using the folder or clicking through as we did above.
Click Extract at the top of the window
Click Extract ALL... on the menu drop down
Now this is for Windows based computers. If you would like to see how to do the same for MAC and Chrome please drop me a comment below and I will include the photo tutorials as well.
